Anche se con un pò di ritardo, siamo felici di condividere gli auguri per il 2021 che la WSCF Europe ha mandato alla FGEI, insieme a tutti i progetti che hanno pianificato per quest’anno. In fondo all’articolo, potete trovare la traduzione!
Going into 2021, we are leaving behind us a year that for most of us has been very different. We have gotten used to studying, working, and hanging out with friends and family through our phones and computers. What kind of year 2021 is going to be is yet to be revealed but we in the WSCF-E have much planned and we are very much hoping for a fruitful, fun, and engaging year despite the challenges we are still facing.
With this letter we would like to share our plans for 2021 and invite you to join us!
Who are we?
Beginning a new year we would like to introduce our organization for those of you who are new to the WSCF or have not been in contact with us before.
WSCF-E stands for World Student Christian Federation in Europe. We are representing Christian students in the European region and are part of the global federation. The other regions are Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and North America. Each region has a regional committée, ours is usually referred to as ERC (European regional committee). Every other year we have the ERA ( European regional assembly) where the movements elect the ERC, decide what we are going to do the next couple of years and if we should make any changes to our bylaws for example. WSCF-E consists of 28 Student Christian Movements in Europe. Our motto is “proclaiming justice together for peace” and in order to do so we try to advocate, educate and connect for issues related to human rights, but also religious and environmental topics.
The world federation has an Inter-regional office with an Executive Committee. Each region has 2 representatives plus the regional secretary in the committee. Our representatives, called ExCo’s, are Marta Sappé Griot and Paudie Holly. The General Assembly takes place every 5th year and is the highest decision-making body of the WSCF. What do we do?
We are a movement based organization. Without you in our SCM’s, we would be nothing! The ERC (European regional committee) is working for the movements in the region. We support the movements and their staff and officers in many ways and we are organizing different study sessions, campaigns, and other events. The topics which we work with are: Gender and Sexuality, Solidarity and Advocacy, Theology, Interreligious dialogue and Ecojustice. Any member of any SCM is welcome to contact us if you are interested in joining a working group!
We are also making sure that our ERA’s take place as they should and we are connecting our region to the global level.
What is happening in 2021?
Meetings for the Movements
Since we cannot travel or meet each other in real life we are going to start to have meetings via Zoom for all our movements and members! It is going to be an informal way of meeting each other and spending time together. This is a great way to connect from home, so make sure to spread the word to your friends in the movements (or perhaps a friend that is not a member but would like to join). We hope you are asexcited as us about this!
During the meetings we will get to know each other, discuss, play, laugh and pray, so if you are up for some international contacts, you are more than welcome to join. It would be great, if you could send a quick message to chair@wscf-europe.org before, so we can arrange activities matching the group size, but if you would like to join spontaneously that’s fine as well. You are welcome in any case! Just make sure you have your favorite drink, snacks and a smile ready.

Gender and Sexuality Campaign
This year we are launching a campaign on gender and sexuality. It is going to be a series of events, study sessions, or seminars about different topics. The events will happen between April and August. One event is planned to be held once a month or every other month. Stay tuned for more info about this campaign. If you would like to join the working group or are interested in learning more do not hesitate to contact us!
General Assembly, GA
In June the GA is taking place. It was originally planned to take place last year but was postponed due to the pandemic. It is going to be a virtual meeting. and an amazing opportunity to meet new people from all over the world. Europe is the host-region for this General Assembly.
Study Session on right wing populism
In this training course we will train young activists to
… to understand the idea behind and the methods used by right wing populism.
… to interact with it from an individual and church perspective.
… to learn from each other.
… to grow to act as multipliers.
The study session will happen in June 14-18 in Budapest in cooperation with the Council of Europe. Contact us if you are interested in joining!
European Regional Assembly, ERA
This fall our regional assembly is taking place! Due to the pandemic it is most likely to be a virtual assembly. More info about this is coming, but it is a perfect time to start thinking about delegates, if your movement has any amendments or motions that you would like to bring to the ERA, or if you are interested in being a candidate for the ERA.

Entrando nel 2021, ci lasciamo alle spalle un anno che per la maggior parte di noi è stato molto diverso. Ci siamo abituatɜ a studiare, lavorare e uscire con amici, amiche e familiari attraverso i nostri telefoni e computer. Che tipo di anno sarà il 2021 deve ancora essere scoperto, ma noi della WSCF-E abbiamo pianificato molto e speriamo davvero in un anno fruttuoso, divertente e coinvolgente, nonostante le sfide che stiamo ancora affrontando.
Con questa lettera vorremmo condividere i nostri programmi per il 2021 e invitarti a unirti a noi!
Chi siamo?
All’inizio di un nuovo anno vorremmo presentare la nostra organizzazione per quelli di voi che sono nuovi e nuove alla WSCF o non sono stati/e in contatto con noi prima.
WSCF-E sta per World Student Christian Federation in Europe. Rappresentiamo studenti e studentesse cristiani/e nella regione europea e facciamo parte della federazione globale. Le altre regioni sono Asia-Pacifico, Medio Oriente, Africa, America Latina e Nord America. Ogni due anni abbiamo l’ERA (Assemblea Regionale Europea) in cui i movimenti eleggono l’ERC, si decide cosa faremo nei prossimi due anni e se dobbiamo apportare modifiche al nostro statuto, ad esempio. La WSCF-E è composta da 28 movimenti cristiani studenteschi in Europa. La federazione mondiale ha un ufficio interregionale con un comitato esecutivo. Ogni regione ha 2 rappresentanti più il segretario regionale nel comitato. I nostri rappresentanti, chiamati ExCo’s, sono Marta Sappé Griot e Paudie Holly. L’Assemblea Generale si tiene ogni 5 anni ed è il più alto organo decisionale della WSCF. Cosa facciamo?
Siamo un’organizzazione basata sul movimento. Senza di te nel nostro SCM, non saremmo niente! L’ERC (Comitato Regionale Europeo) sta lavorando per i movimenti nella regione. Supportiamo i movimenti, il loro personale e gli ufficiali in molti modi e stiamo organizzando diverse sessioni di studio, campagne e altri eventi. I temi su cui lavoriamo sono: genere e sessualità, solidarietà e sostegno, teologia, dialogo interreligioso ed ecogiustizia. Qualsiasi membro di qualsiasi SCM è invitato a contattarci se è interessatə a unirsi a un gruppo di lavoro!
Ci stiamo anche assicurando che il nostro SER si svolga come dovrebbe e stiamo collegando la nostra regione a livello globale.
Cosa succederà nel 2021?
Incontri per i Movimenti
Poiché non possiamo viaggiare o incontrarci nella vita reale, inizieremo ad avere incontri tramite Zoom per tutti i nostri movimenti e membri! Sarà un modo informale per incontrarsi e trascorrere del tempo insieme. Questo è un ottimo modo per connetterti da casa, quindi assicurati di spargere la voce ai tuoi amici e alle tue amiche nei movimenti (o forse ad un amico o amica che non è un membro, ma vorrebbe unirsi). Ci auguriamo che tu ne sia entusiasta quanto noi!
Durante gli incontri ci conosceremo, discuteremo, giocheremo, rideremo e pregheremo, quindi se sei prontə per alcuni contatti internazionali, sei più che benvenutə. Sarebbe fantastico se potessi inviare prima un messaggio veloce a chair@wscf-europe.org, in modo che possiamo organizzare le attività in proporzione alle dimensioni del gruppo, ma se desideri unirti spontaneamente va bene lo stesso. Sei il/la benvenutə in ogni caso! Assicurati solo di avere la tua bevanda preferita, uno snack e un sorriso pronto.

Campagna sul genere e la sessualità
Quest’anno stiamo lanciando una campagna sul genere e la sessualità. Sarà una serie di eventi, sessioni di studio o seminari su diversi argomenti. Gli eventi avranno luogo tra aprile ed agosto. È previsto un evento una volta al mese o ogni due mesi. Restate sintonizzati/e per ulteriori informazioni su questa campagna. Se vuoi entrare a far parte del gruppo di lavoro o sei interessatə a saperne di più, non esitare a contattarci!
Assemblea Generale (GA)
A giugno si terrà la GA. Inizialmente era previsto che si svolgesse lo scorso anno, ma è stata rinviata a causa della pandemia. Sarà un incontro virtuale. e una fantastica opportunità di incontrare nuove persone da tutto il mondo. L’Europa sarà la regione che ospiterà questa Assemblea Generale.
Sessione di studio sul populismo di destra
In questo corso di formazione insegneremo ai/alle giovani attivisti/e a
… capire l’idea alla base del populismo di destra e i metodi da esso usati.
… interagire con esso da una prospettiva individuale e dalla prosepttivadella chiesa.
… imparare gli uni dagli altri.
… crescere per agire come moltiplicatori e moltiplicatrici.
La sessione di studio si svolgerà dal 14 al 18 giugno a Budapest in collaborazione con il Consiglio d’Europa. Contattaci se sei interessatə ad aderire!
Assemblea Generale Europea (ERA)
Questo autunno si terrà la nostra assemblea regionale! A causa della pandemia è molto probabile che si tratti di un’assemblea virtuale. Ulteriori informazioni su questo argomento stanno arrivando, ma è il momento perfetto per iniziare a pensare ai delegati e alle delegate, se il tuo movimento ha emendamenti o mozioni da portare all’ERA e se sei interessatə ad essere un/a candidatə per l’ERA.
Ci auguriamo che tutti/e voi stiate aspettando con ansia quest’anno tanto quanto noi e che avremo la possibilità di incontrarvi!
